I
joined Mary Kay when my daughters were 11, 13, 15, 17. We were
looking at college education and with their being so close in
age, we would have 2 in college for 6 straight years. If you’ve
priced colleges, it was the national debt! So my husband, John,
said I needed to go back to work. I had been a 3rd grade teacher
and had a life time credential, but I didn’t want to be away
from home full time. I thought that teenagers needed you home as
much or more than preschoolers, and I didn’t want a job outside
the home.
I had been using Mary Kay for a couple years and so were all my
daughters. My consultant suggested I become a consultant. I
laughed at her! I didn’t know the difference in 'warm'a nd
‘cool’. I knew nothing about make up. I didn’t see myself as the
Mary Kay type. However, I would have flexible hours. I would be
working out of my home. All my girls were using the product and
I would be able to get my product wholesale. So, I gave it a
try. I never realized what this opportunity would mean for my
family and me. |

My
girls, young women now, are all fully educated with college
degrees and one with a Masters and are gainfully employed. They
have learned about goals, resetting goals, persistence, stepping
out of your comfort zone, and much more from being in a Mary Kay
family. These values are caught not taught!
If you recall, I said I came in for the money. However that’s
not why I stayed. The women I have met and worked with in Mary
Kay are dynamic, wonderful, positive women. They have shaped me
as well as my shaping them. The support system, the love and
caring, and the potential for building an awesome lifestyle, are
available to all who choose. Thank you, Mary Kay!
